Joachim Hahn was born in December 1924 in a small village in North Germany. After finishing his high school education he was drafted into the army at the end of 1942. In 1944, he was wounded and remained in a military hospital until he was discharged at the end of the war. In the spring of 1946, he enrolled as a student at Humboldt University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, in Berlin, Germany....
